An unusual and spectacular oasis right in the centre of Barcelona. This penthouse has an indoor area of 63 m2 and two private terraces with stunning views over rooftops and beautiful historical buildings. The total terrace area is 75 m2.

The 63 m2 penthouse was completely refurbished in 2004 with high quality materials and a lot of charm. The design plays with the contrast between modern elements with clear lines and original elements such as Art Nouveau tile floors, wooden beams, oak parquet and handcrafted tiles in the shower.

It has an open fireplace, central heating with city gas, double glazed windows, high-quality aluminum carpentry and a kitchen with cooking island.

The first terrace with direct access from the apartment offers an intimate atmosphere with beautiful, expansive views over the roofs of the 15th century Gothic Santa Creu Hospital in the Raval district.

The second terrace, also private, is located at a higher level and offers stunning 360° views of Barcelona, Montjuic, Tibidabo, even as far as Montseny, 60 km away. It’s the perfect place to enjoy the magic of this unique neighborhood. The penthouse is remarkably quiet and tranquil, as its height means sounds from the street below cannot be heard. The sonic landscape is composed of the "laughter" of seagulls and the romantic sound of distant ship horns.

The penthouse is located on Calle Hospital (the ancient Via Romana), on the fifth floor of a renovated building without elevator, opposite the "Massana", the gothic Santa Creu Hospital (today an art school and library) with its fabulous courtyard decorated with orange trees and a fountain, just a few meters away from the Ramblas, the most emblematic promenade of Barcelona, and the Boquería market, in a lively, multicultural area. In the immediate vicinity, there are all types of services and public transport, the Liceu L3 metro, city bus and Bicing stations, etc. Walking distance to the port and the beach area.

As well as a being a remarkable home, the penthouse’s characteristics and central location make it an ideal investment.

About El Raval

Until 1988 Raval was Barcelona’s red-light district, and the name was synonymous with poverty and criminality. Eventually, Barcelona’s council decided enough was enough and invested a great deal of money in transforming the whole area.

Today, Raval is a multicultural, trendy and buzzing district with personality and character by the bucket-load. The area’s historic heritage can still be seen in parts of Raval, but as you walk through the area you will see plenty of cranes and ongoing renovations, bearing witness to the ongoing development of the area, as slowly but surely it cuts more and more ties with its past. A wonderful mixture of Spanish and international culture has developed, reflected more than anything in the generous assortment of restaurants and bars that have sprung up in recent years. Here you can also find Barcelona’s best range of vintage shops.

Over the years, Raval has become a popular area for expressive art and culture, and you can plenty of art studios, galleries, bookshops and artisan boutiques along its streets. Raval also features the likes of the world-famous MACBA art museum, the CCCB exhibitions centre, and on Carrer Nou de la Rambla, the building ‘Palau Güell’, designed by Gaudí.

The area is characterised by smaller apartments – averaging 50squaremetres – often in turn-of-the-century buildings. The prices here are still significantly lower than other parts of the inner city. As renovations and continued clean-up operations progress, prices are expected to increase to levels similar to those of other parts of the old town.
